Map testing by Quinn

 Map Testing

Through the school week of April 24-28 3rd 4th and 5th graders at Glenridge elementary school did the Measure of Academic Progress test (MAP)in the state of Missouri.Glenridge was not the only one to do it however.Schools across the state of Missouri took part of the test.Schools have different weeks so not all of the school in Missouri did it as the same week as Glenridge but still did it on a different week. There was Reading,Science,Math, and Literacy. The 5th grade took the test all week except Wednesday.3rd had two days and 4th had 3 or 2 days. After they were finished with the first test(there were 3 tests for Science and math and reading however Literacy had only one which was writing a paragraph)kids would eat their snack and get ready for the next. Some kids were tested with adults with MacBooks but the ones who did not go stayed with the teacher and used ChromeBooks. That is how map testing went at Glenridge Elementary School.

100 WC by Quinn

I took a picture with my camera of a piece of chocolate to send to my friend to make him jealous. I put the chocolate in my pocket and went to the park. I was worried that it would melt since it was so hot, but it was still hard enough to eat. It did melt a little bit which turned my fingers brown, however the weather was beautiful. I spent around an hour at the park walking around, then I went home and basically did nothing for the rest of the day. It was a good day. The next morning I slept in.

Quinn's 100 Word Challenge

I was about to go on a vacation to London. I was late again because I stayed up all night  and that is why I am always last to my flight. This isn’t the FIRST time this happen to me it's happened to me about 12 times! I was thinking ”OH boy this is gonna be a rough day”.So my flight to London already took off and I had to wait for about a good 7 hours for the next flight to London.Man lemme tell you it was hard. I saw a kid throwing a HUGE fit and i'm pretty sure the mother was embarrassed.

Jump Rope For Heart

Throughout the month of February kids all over the United States from California to New England did a fundraiser called  Jump Rope For Heart.Jump Rope For Heart  Is A fundraiser that helps people with cancer or other diseases. How they do is that kids in schools jump rope for P.E classes and kids can sign up to.they raise money to help the people with diseases.Glenridge was one of the schools in America to participate. The P.E teachers would set up jump ropes out and the long ropes. With the short ropes kids would take turn jumping with their P.E. partners and afterwards kids would be in a competition to see what kid can jump the longest. Then kids would do the long ropes.2 kids would hold the jump rope and one kid would jump in the center.Sometimes the kids would have a short rope and jump at the same time the jump rope is.Sometimes kids would invite other kids in the long rope. The PE teachers would talk about how your heart works and other stuff.Kids also did The Heart Obstacle Course.Kids got to do different obstacle courses. The first  four stations  you had to use a kart with handles on it.You would have to push yourself through the stations until you were done and gave your kart to another person. Then the rest you used your legs.At the last station there would be facts about your body under a frisbee. Then you would run around the course and wait for someone to give you the kart. And that’s what Glenridge did for JRFR.By Quinn Weyer

Hidden Valley

On January 12, 2017 all the fifth graders at Glenridge went to Hidden Valley Ski Resort in Eureka, Missouri. Kids went on a bus to the ski resort. Kids sat in the lobby and went to a shed where the ski equipment was. It was really hot in there since you had all your snow stuff on.

Then kids formed lines and jumped on their boots and then went to ski school. There were a lot of things you had to do. One of them was where staff members help you do the french fry pizza thing.

Another one was where you rode the magic carpet and ski down a short path. After you were done with ski school you could ski freely. At lunch they had pizza to eat and coke, powerade, and water to drink.

After lunch you could ski freely even if you did not pass ski school. The ski lifts were open and kids skied. Then kids went home. However, a lot of kids had parent volunteers and some kids stayed at the ski resort.

Kids Vote

On Nov 7 the day before election day the Glenridge kids got to vote for who they wanted for president & other goverment jobs. It took place at the MakerSpace in Glenridge. Different classes got to go at some point of the day. It happened because kids got to vote. It happened on the Ipads. All classes from 5th to kindergarten got to vote. Some other schools as well did the same thing as glenridge. At Glenridge Hillary won. This helped us learn what it would be like to vote when we are adults.”Well i think that it's interesting that kids can vote for president even though it does not count and the kids decisions may be unwise.”Says Colin Weyer.”I think it's good”.Says Emily Weyer.  The election was good.  But they won't do it in another 4 years.

October blog article by Quinn

Every day some 5th graders go to their kindergarten buddies. What they do with them is go book shopping. The teachers are Mrs. Riley Mrs. B and Mrs. Sieve.First the kindergartener picks a few books but first they have to get a book that has a red strip on it.Then they can pick whichever one they want. Then they go reading. The 5th grader can help the kindergartener pronounce a word that they don't know.”I like it.Being with my buddie is fun.”Says a 5th grader. To any future 5th grader k buddies are going to be fun.The goal for the kindergarteners are to be able to read by the end of the year.THE END.
