At Glenridge elementary school 3-5 grade is doing archery in PE class. This unit is to show students how to operate a bow safely and aim right where your target is. Everyday they would come into PE go over the three steps. 1. “Step to the line.” 2. “Knock your arrow.” 3. “Pull, aim and shoot.” After going over the three steps they would be assigned a cone number and that’s where they would sit. When it was your turn you would step up to the line and when Mrs.Miller or Mr.Hutson said so you would follow the three steps. If you shot a bullseye you could add your name to the bullseye club. On the very last day there were balloons in the middle of the targets right were the bullseye was. If you shot the bullseye you could pop the balloon. It was a very fun unit.

100 Word Challenge by Liam
My house was the most beautiful thing you would ever see. It was like a piece of art. Dark brown like a castle. Sometimes I would take pictures of it with my camera. It was hard to ever think of leaving it. Everyday I come home worried because my dad got a job in the military. He was a pilot. Wars swept like a hurricane they never stayed in the same place. My dad had a job in britian as a RAF (royal air force pilot. That means big money but it also meant leaving the house in NY. FOREVER.

They celebrate the 100 day of school because it is showing dedication by going to school for 100 days. Buddies and Mrs.Barnes class worked together make glasses, hats or even do fun activities like 100 day artwork or counting to 100. Rhadi says “it was fun to work with are buddies.” In the end Mrs.barnes class and their buddies had a fun day and could almost say they were halfway through the school year.

Ian and Liam rollercoaster
At Glenridge Elementary School, students in 5th grade are building rollercoaster’s which made any ordinary January into January of excitement. They made them in Discovery, a subject where you create things with cardboard.
Liam Ferguson said “It was a good way to reuse cardboard”. Stella said “it was a challenge that was fun”. They used cardboard, duct tape, make do’s and hot glue. This project took the 5th graders around 5 weeks to do and just recently launched their project to other 5th graders. The other two fifth grade classes came to watch each rollercoaster run. Some worked and some didn’t.

printing in art class by: Salt
This week in art class 5th graders are having fun doing carving and printing.
You started out with design on paper this would be are guides to carving our linoleum carving blocks. The 5th graders used linoleum cutters and their guides to carve their designs into their linoleum blocks. It was very satisfying and fun to carve the linoleum. On the packaging of the linoleum blocks it says “cuts like butter”.
So now everyone was saying “cuts like butter!” Once we carved our designs we had to print them.
We used brayers (rollers) and ink to print our designs 4 different ways onto paper. Once we finished printing we would try a different color. Would all make three.
5th graders are hoping that they can look forward to more
