Breakout EDU, Sage

Breakout EDU

On a fun day in April The class of 5B was going to face one of their biggest challenges yet.  They were doing Breakout EDU.  They were in their classroom getting ready to do a fun activity so they could learn about the revolutionary war.

Breakout EDU is an activity where you have to solve locks with clues you figure out.  Some clues you found around the room, some you had to solve, one clue was evan in a random book.

So many people liked it such as when Evan said “A fun very difficult challenge.”  It was kind of challenging to Sage Because Sage said “It was very challenging and difficult.”  Some people think it helped our brains such as Liam F said “It’s a good way to challenge our brains”

Breakout EDU was a fun activity that the 5B love and would like to do again.  They evan did the online one and are begging Mrs. Barnes to let them do it again.

100 WC By Sage

We were in the cave.  We were close I could feel it in my bones.  I had been walking for days and my feet dragged as I walked.  I was walking in the cave when I see something I can't tell what it is but I start running.  As I get closer I realize it's a wall.  All of this walking for a wall.  I go to sit next to my sister and as I sit down my hand goes throught the wall.  I realize the wall is fake so my sister and I slowly and gently walk through it.

Musical Parts By Sage

Musical Parts

Everyone in 5th grade was excited to find out there musical parts for the musical The Great Nursery Rhyme Disaster. And now they were finally getting together as a grade to figure out what part everyone was going to get. It was Friday before spring break and all of fifth grade was in Mrs. Scotinos 5th grade classroom. Mrs. Kelton started naming the names and titles of people's roles.  Mrs. Kelton divided the role of little Ms. Muffet. The role of little Ms. Muffet was split between two girls, between Madeline and Sophie who was out of town anyway so her friend Sage had to call and tell her about what her role was.

The Great Nursery Rhyme Disaster is about little Ms. Muffet who gets tired of always getting scared by that scarry little spider. So she goes to join a new rhyme and soon the rhymes get super mixed up.

“I really wanted the queen of hearts and I was sooooo happy when I got her as my role.”  Says Sage very happy with her role.

The 5th graders have been working very hard on their musical and hopefully will turn out very well.

Once there was a magical camera one of the magical things it could do was make a ugly brown picture beautiful.  The owners of the camera were worried that the camera would get stolen by the evil king for the camera could do a lot more than take pictures it had magic beyond imagination.  One day the worry of the owners of the camera came true.  The camera was taken by the evil king and they had to steal it back.  It was hard to get back they had to fight the most fierce dragon to get the camera back.

I'm always last

My name is Zoey Zoop.  At school we have line order depending on your last name A-Z so I’m always last in line.  Also at school our desks are in a order from A-Z A in the front Z in the way back so once again I am last in the last line of desks.  To add on to that my mom is super slow so I always get to places last. So that is why I’m always last.  The final reason I’m last is because my birthday is December 28 so my birthday makes me last.  The End.

The End of A Long Walk to Water

End of A Long Walk to Water.

The Students of 5B had just gotten done with lunch when they went to there classroom Mrs. Barnes announced we were going to finish A Long Walk to Water.  Everyone was excited to finish it but also sad to be done with the book.

There are two main characters in A Long Walk to Water.  They are both from different times.  One is true and one is not.  In the end they meet one much older than the other.  They are supposed to be anamy because they are from different tribes but in the end they help each other.

Everyone is sad about finishing the book but happy as well to see how this wonderful book comes to an end.  Sage Says “I liked the book I’m sad it’s over, but I think it came to a good ending that wrapped everything up very nicely.”

Ski Trip By Sage

Ski Trip

Fifth grade was in the lunchroom at hidden valley.  It was the 12th of January in the morning and the fifth graders were ready to go skiing.  The fifth graders were going because they wanted to have fun and they didn’t really have a choice because it was a school field trip.

After everyone got their lift tickets on their coats they walked to the ski, snowboard and boot room.  It smelled REALLY bad.  It smelled like if you were to wear the same shoes for a year and than smell the inside of the shoe.  Everyone got their boots and went to stand in line for their skis.

To be able to free ski you had to get through 7 stations.  Some people got through fast others not so much.  Many people such as Sophie Sage and Cha Cha think that it was unnecessary for the people that have already gone skiing to have to go through the stations.

Tons of people loved the Ski trip.  “I had so much fun!”  Says Madeline.  Skiing is so much fun.” Says Sophie.  “I found it very fun and exciting and it was a little weird skiing because I have never gone skiing but I found it fun learning how to ski.”  Says Sara  “I really liked it because I got to spend a lot of time with my friends and I really liked it.” says Cha Cha.  “It was a very interesting adventure.”  Says Christian.  So many people liked it and want to ski again.

Slide shock by Sage

Slide Shock

Fifth grader Sage walked over to a cluster of people around the slide.  She wondered what was happening.  It was recess and she saw a lot of people jump back all at once and scream at the same time.  Something was happening but she couldn't figure it out. Almost half of the grade was touching fingers.  Than someone went down the slide and taped someone's hand and everyone jumped back. Sage thought it worked because of an electric shock but she was not sure.

Sage went over to some of her friends and got into the half circle.  Sage watched someone go down the slide wondering what was going to happen.  As they tapped the person's finger on the end Sage felt a shock at the exact same time.

“It didn't hurt the first time,  but the second time it did.  It hurt more the second time because the last person in line was touching metal which conducts electricity”, Sophie explained.

“It was fun to do and it is interesting how the science works” Says Madeline

“It was cool but it kind of hert” Says Claire.  Sage agrees with Claire that it kind of hert.

“It was kind of scary because I just felt this immediate shock”  Says Cha Cha.

The slide shock was surely a shock to many people.  Many people liked it and thought it was very interesting.  Lots of people also wonder what else will the fifth grade class of 2016-2017 discover, explore and, learn.

Fraction Action Fraction Friction by sage

Fraction Action Fraction Friction
By Sage

During math In 5B fifth grade classroom Mrs. Barnes was calling names to play FAFF (Fraction Action Fraction Friction). Everyone had a partner but Sage and Adam. Sage started to worry since you play in groups of three there would not be enough people in her group.  Mrs. Barnes pulls out the last sticks and says “Sage, Adam and, me"

Sage and Mrs. Barnes went over to Adam’s table and then Mrs. Barnes passed out the cards. Everyone had played this before and last time Sage played she won so she was feeling pretty confident.

To play FAFF you have a deck of cards with fractions on them. They can all be converted to twelfths so they were all cards like ½, ⅔ or ⅚. FAFF is kind of like the game Blackjack but you don’t want to go over 2. So if on the first turn you get ½ you say Action and you get another card. Once you get close to two you say Friction.

Sage, Adam and, Mrs. Barnes started to play FAFF. Sage, Adam and Mrs.Barnes took turns dealing. It got very intense and when they were playing they got a few exactly twos which is a big deal. Sage was very sad because whenever she got close to two like one and ⅚ someone else would have two exactly. Sage got very annoyed by that.

“I got frustrated because Mrs. Barnes kept winning. But it made me determined” Says Adam

“Fun but a little confusing at first” says Claire however she didn’t play FAFF with Sage, Adam and, Mrs. Barnes.

“I should go to vegas” Mrs. Barnes said because she had beat Sage and Adam.

If you have played FAFF did you like it? Would you ever consider playing it if you hadn't? I hope so because Sage thinks it is very fun.

Will anyone be safe in claymo duck duck goose

Sage and Lyrics claymo group sat in a circle in there claymo room.  There claymo room was the foyer but they needed a smart board so they moved to the language room.  There claymo lesson was over so they decided to play duck duck goose. One of the group leaders started to explain how to play duck duck goose during claymo.

Everyone sat down in a circle as the leader started the tap heads. Finally she said “GOOSE!!!.”  She ran around the circle. Once Sage had gone all the way around the circle she sat down. She was safe but would the next person be as safe?

The next person started going around the circle tapping heads. “Duck duck duck duck duck” then finally she said “GOOSE!!!” They both started to sprint around the circle. The next person was safe but the next time they could not make the cut and they got tagged.

The person that got tagged had to sit in the center of the circle and could not play till someone else got tagged. So then Asha had to tap heads “duck duck duck duck duck duck duck GOOSE!!!” Asha ran as Ben chased her. Asha was not very lucky and had to sit in the middle so the person that was in the middle was in the middle befor was very happy because they got to be a part of the circle again.  After that the claim group got to play for a few more minutes before Mrs. Scott’s voice came on the speaker and everyone had to go back to their homeroom class.

As everyone was walking back the Claymo leader Sage grabbed the hands of the kindergarteners and walked them to their class.  The Claymo leader asked “Did you like Claymo today?” the two kindergarteners did not speak a lot of english they spoke more chinese so the claymo leader did not know if they were going to reply.  But to her surprise they did. They both said, “yes.” That made the Claymo leader happy that they had fun.  I think everyone can say they had a good memory of the first Claymo of the year of 2016-2017.
